Ability. Potential. Patience.

AUGUST 2026 newsletteR

Hmmm. I have been in a state of pondering for the past month. One could call it a little existential crisis. The state of the world, the state of us as humans, the state of my life, body and mind, my direction in life. Future of healing and wellbeing. Just little things, you know, haha. The world has definitely changed; that’s a fact, but how well are we keeping up with the changes and how is it impacting our ability to be healthy and happy? My mind easily slides into sadness and frustration when I think about this. As I wrote last month, counting your blessings and finding the good stuff of every day is so important to our minds so we can keep our sanity intact. I pushed writing this newsletter a week forward so it wouldn’t become a complete negative rant! So now it will hopefully end up sounding more constructive and thought-provoking than just a bitter old lady’s mumble while peeking behind the curtains watching people making too much noise (or in other words having fun) on the street. And trust me when I say, I do have those days as well, but the ability to snap out of it is what matters.

Ability. I love that word; it holds so much potential. We all have so many abilities; we just keep forgetting them from time to time. The ability that I’m most interested in is the ability to heal ourselves. I have mentioned that before and will mention it again: you and only you hold the power of healing yourself. Other people, practitioners, and the medical world are a great help when needed. But you are the only person who exists within the framework of your body and therefore can control all: the body, mind, and spirit together, as they won’t function without one another. You are the master of your thoughts, emotions, feelings, moods, and beliefs. You might need some help to rein them in, but at the end of the day only you can change them. These elements of the mind create our physical sensations and feelings, habits and patterns in life that we sometimes blindly follow without stopping to question them. The body is always trying to help us and protect us, but the signals can be misguided by the mind. We all have our own history and our own demons to fight; there’s no human walking on this earth without some sort of issue. Our bodies and minds also all function slightly differently; that’s why we need to learn how to listen to the messages from within (the mind and the body) so we can start winning some battles within and create some actual permanent change!

Creating change is hard. As humans, we seek pleasure over pain, so doing something unpleasant like sitting in stillness or changing the way you think doesn’t just happen; you need your ability to bear uncomfortableness. Rewiring your system demands time, stillness, patience, determination, continuity, and repetition after repetition. It’s been almost 3 months now of doing a daily meditation for 30-45mins and still most days my mind wanders somewhere else than within. Reining in the mind feels like taming a wild cat; trust is not given; it needs to be earned with patience and repetition. If we can’t control our minds, the body will never be fully at peace. This is why I am studying emotional processing and nervous system regulation. I have come to the point in my practice that I feel like bodywork isn’t enough anymore. Mental health issues and medications are everyday life for a health and wellbeing practitioner, so I wanted more tools. I have a few more modules to go, and then it’s decision time: how it’s gonna be incorporated into my practice. But it will be my route out of the complaining, ranting mode of how the world is ruined and we can’t cope. To a degree, that is the reality when you look at statistics of mental and physical health in today’s world. But every single small step towards better is meaningful; let’s not forget that. Change is hard, but it’s possible.

Some small steps that are always available to you:

1. Breathe

  • No matter where you are, you can control your breathing.

  • Slow meaningful breaths, especially the exhale, will help you calm your nervous system.

  • The nose is there for breathing, so try to concentrate on breathing through your nose in normal activities

2. Close your eyes

  • Helps to bring thoughts within

  • Even better combined with the breath

3. Go outside

  • Fresh air, natural light

  • Touch the earth

  • NO devices with you

  • Just let nature do its magic, even if it’s for a short moment

Some bigger steps that might be harder to achieve or scarier to take:

1. Be alone

  • In stillness by yourself, you can really tune into your existence

  • No distractions, just embrace the space and silence

2. Cold plunge

  • Shock your nervous system; helps to rewire

  • Remember to be safe; maybe not alone if this is new for you

3. Journal

  • It’s good to get those thoughts out

  • You can get back to them and see how far you come, or just burn them as a symbol of letting go

I hope this ended up being helpful and nice.

Any further questions, book in and we’ll work on your issues together.

Now I’m heading out to the sun and breathe!

Love

My studies are going strong! Yes, my favorite study spot is in front of the fire, while drying work laundry in front of my face and fighting for space with the cats. Or sometimes at the dedicated desk, but still cats rolling around, as it should be.
